to the Note: Individuals from outside the Penn State network

Free Security Training Seminars
Free educational seminars on
various security topics are offered periodically. Additional
information and registration
for the seminars is offered by ITS Training Services.
Free
online web based training technology and business/professional skills
courses are available at http://its.psu.edu/training/wbt/

Information Security Training (MIST)
Content
in the ANGEL group IT Security Training provides access to
self-paced training for all Penn Staters who use University computer
systems and networks.
Each of
the four modules includes:
1. Scenarios
that help users understand the need for training
2. Content information divided into topics that are subdivided
into lessons
3. Questions to check your understanding
4. Penn State's Web-based training recommendations and additional
resources
The security
training modules include:
1. Information
Security Fundamentals
2. Best Practices for Securing Information Systems
3. Securing Windows (currently being developed)
4. Securing Unix (currently being developed)
Security Day Conference
Penn State
faculty and staff are invited to attend the Penn State Security
Day Conference, sponsored by Security Operations and Services, a
unit of Information Technology Services (ITS). Conference sessions
will focus on security issues such as new types of attacks, securing
your operating system, securing your networks, and legal and ethical
